Uncertainty

I have been working through the Karen Kingsbury Family of Jesus study and using the Give Me Jesus Journal from Gretchen Saffle.
I am only four days into the study but I have really enjoyed it. The journal is beautiful and well done.

The second day of the study on Joseph posed a question on uncertainty. I wrote this in my journal:

I think when I was pregnant with Golden Boy there was a lot of uncertainty. It was my first pregnancy, my body didn't always seem to want to cooperate and then ultimately didn't at the end, having me deliver my tiny boy over 2 months early. Being 2lbs and 14oz and struggling for every breath.....those were uncertain times. They feel like a moment ago. Like I can reach back and just touch yesterday but he is pushing 9 years old and growing so big. Those were uncertain times for sure but I feel like when I look back on them we had a peace. Peace that when we left our tiny little guy in the hospital every night that God was there with him, helping him to continue to breath, having him gain the weight he needed, settling his wrestlessness. I feel like we had a peace through most of it.
I am thankful for the uncertain times and the Peace that He brings with them.

These photos were taken by my sister-in-law.

Book Theme Baby Shower

Lorax Lemonade. saw the idea to do this  here
we had  a really fun time planning this baby shower for our friends Blakeley and Lindsay. Blakeley was having baby #3 and at the time they didn't know if it was a boy or a girl. since the shower she has had the baby and it is a beautiful baby girl that they named Winnie. Lindsay was having baby #2 and it was a boy just like her first so we decided to go with a book theme. you can never have to many books. everyone brought a book and one of the books the moms kept for their library and the other one was donated to the hospital childrens floor. enjoy the pictures of our fun book theme baby shower.

julie made the cute decorations with the ABC and books

green eggs......

meatballs............

moon pies............

cookies...........

julie also made these cute book bags for the moms to put the babies books in

katie made this awsome cake to look like a book.

the momma's so cute.

this shower was not only the book theme but also a chill time and a girls night time thing too. we all showed up in our comfey pjs and the plan was to watch what to expect when expecting. but get a group of girls together and the talking never stops. we never did get around to watching the movie.

Mysterious

this first picture is for theCrazyJoy challenge.

this weekend we had a baby shower for a friend of mine. it was a secret weather the baby was a boy or a girl. she found out last weekend at a shower with her family and she kept a secret from the rest of us for the last week. we had a pink and blue themed shower this weekend and her cake revealed boy or girl? take a look at some of the set up for the shower.

linds hadn't really been craving much but she had been eating a lot of cereal. we had four different types of cheerios and some granola cereal. people could eat it with milk or yogurt or plain.
jules made these cute baby passi's

half of the table was pink and half was blue. i wish i would have gotten a picture from the blue side. we even had pink and blue punch.

linds made her own cake so that she could hide the color of the frosting in the inside. she also made these cupcakes.

so here you go. baby j.crew is a boy. we are so very excited.

this was a big part of my weekend and i chose the first and the last pictures as my CrazyJoy:Mysterious post because it was a mystery to all of us if the baby was going to be a boy or a girl and there is something about pregnancy that is mysterious as well. it's amazing that these little human lives can grow and form and live inside of us for 9 months. it's a mystery as to what this little one will look like. a mystery as to their personality. pregnancy is a mysterious, wondrous thing.

Random Tuesday

just a little more pregnancy randomness.
i've been having some really bad back pains and chest pains and pains in my ribs.
i know, i'm a big baby and need to suck it up.
i'm at 32 weeks today.
last night my sweet chariot took me to the mall to purchase this.
yes i am now the proud owner and wearer of the belly belt.
it seems to work too.
at least my back seems to feel better.
i'm just a little worried that i'm squishing my baby boy.
it's not all the tight either.
i'm going to call the nurse today and ask her about it today.

oh and keeping with the randomness we went to get the babies stroller set this weekend.
you can see it here.
i put it together all by myself and it's so stinking cute.
we also got the high chair which i love.
you can see it here.
being the geniuses' my hubby and i are we arrived at target in our car and then quickly realized that the 2 big boxes probably wouldn't fit in the car.
we weren't really thinking, which i guess is sometime like us, because we do have a truck that we could have brought.
anyways we got the high chair box in the back seat and then quickly realized that the stroller box wasn't going to fit back their with it.
we decided to put it in the front seat and while my hubby was diligently shoving it into the front seat he knocked the rear view mirror off the windshield.
so i'm rear viewless but he's going to fix it tonight.
i'm sure the whole scene would have been hilarious to someone passing by.

hope everyone has a random tuesday.
i'll check you out later.

Random Tuesday

this isn't my normal random tuesday post the i get from cheryl. although is there really anything normal about random tuesday. this tuesday though was far from normal. well let's see..........it seemed to start out normal.

i was off of work, so after sleeping in i got up, got ready for the day and ran some errands. i went to the bank, walmart, got gas in the car and the library. after that i went to my mother in laws house to see my nephew and at around 1:50 left for my doctor's appointment. this is where it gets a little random. my apt was for 2:15, but being the day before the 4th the reception area was packed. i waited about an hour and 15 min before the got me back and put me in a room. in the mean time they had gotten my vitals and a urine sample. it really wasn't a big deal to me because i had my book with me. never leave the house without a book, you never know where you will be, what you will be doing, or if the people you are around are so boring that you need something to entertain you. (just kidding about the last one but i guess it could happen. it would be rude though, huh!?!)

so once i got back the doctor came in and went through his list of normal questions and then he got to my blood pressure and stopped saying the it wasn't normal. he had me lay back and the nurse came back in and checked it again and it wasn't normal. also he said that there was protein in my urine which i guess is the beginning signs of preclampsia (sp?). i'm getting a little freaked out at this point but trying not to show it. so he writes up some papers and sends me over to the hospital for some further monitoring and tests.

on the short drive over there i'm telling my hubby what's going on and he's asking me what they are going to do and i'm just as clueless as he is. i get there and the nurses are super nice. they get me a gown and hook me up to a blood pressure monitor and take forever locating the baby. they could hear him but he wasn't really cooperating with them. finally they found him and got the monitor in place and i just rested there and waited. my hubby showed up and waited with me. they took some blood for testing and did a swab and after what seemed like waiting forever they came back and let us know that all the tests were negative and that i could go home. during the monitoring part they were checking for contractions which i was having but they weren't to painful. just a tightening up of my tummy. what hurt was that whenever i would have a contraction my chest would tighten up as well. after telling the doctor all of this my orders were to drink a lot more water. try to get my feet up as much as possible during the day and that the tightening up in my chest was probably a little anxiety whenever i was having the contraction. we didn't leave the hospital will probably 7ish and at the point i was super hungry.

i'd say that this was about as random a tuesday as any. the doc wants to see me back in a week to make sure that i am doing okay. i only have 9 weeks left till full term. i'm hanging in there. hopefully i won't have to go back to the hospital again but to deliver the baby.

New Kicks

after a long day at work and swollen ankles (cankles) more swollen than they have been this pregnancy, i broke down and decided that last night was the night to buy new t-shoes. i had been sporting the same pair for the past 2 years. actually it was probably longer then 2 years, but whose counting.

i love my old pair. in fact i bought them just like the pair that i had before then only a darker grey with orange on them. so having 2 pair that i really liked i figured that the shoe selection process would be quite easy. go to shoe store and buy the same kind that i already have only in a different color.

i went into every shoe store in the mall and every one had them only they were boring. well maybe not boring but not what i wanted. they had them in white, black, and occasionally plain grey and brown.

the frustration continued to rise as i went from store to store. maybe it was silly to get frustrated about something like that though but it was still there. finally after picking up a movie (that we didn't get to watch) and getting gas in the car my hubby took me to shoe carnival. i don't remember shoe carnival being all that great of a shoe store when i was growing up so i was a little apprehensive about going there but decided not to pass up the opportunity.

i walked into the store and asked one of the sales ladies where the woman's t-shoes were. she asked me, "woman's athletic shoes?" and i just couldn't help myself by saying, "are there any other kind?" why can't i filter out things sometimes. what a jerk am i! luckily she was extremely helpful. i let her know that i was looking for the new balance like the ones that i was wearing. she took me right to them and they had the biggest selection than any of the other stores that i had been in. yeah for shoe carnival they are a great shoe store.

funny thing is that i didn't even end up buying the ones that were like my old ones. i got another pair of new balance and i love them. she said that they had more support then the ones that i went in looking for and they were very light weight. so hopefully this will help with the cankles along with lots of water and keeping them elevated as much as possible.
