Still not Finished, but Functional

the bathroom is still not finished, there are tiny details that are still needed, but it is functional and has been for quite a while and honestly that is all that matters at this point.

my hubby and i were roaming Lowes and came across this mirror. I waited for one from Magnolia Home to be back in stock, but the more that i thought about it i didn't think it would work right in the space even though i knew it would look amazing.

we came across this one and both liked it so it seemed like it was a no brainer.
it sat in the box in our room for 2 weeks before i decided to tackle putting it up.
i don't know how it all happened and i wish i had timed it all but i got it put up with a quickness. i was shocked when i stepped back and saw it hanging.

there were a couple of towel hooks that we liked but ultimately decided on this one. I didn't want to buy one until we had the mirror purchased and installed.
turns out it is perfect.

now to decide on some open shelving for over the toilet. i was thinking 3 but maybe just two. I measure the space and don't really want anything more than 16 inches long. I'm going to have to go shopping with my tape measure to find exactly what we want.(and to be honest we are 100% sure we know exactly what we want.)
but i know that when we find it we will love it and then the back of the toilet will stop being a catch all for all the things.

Getting Closer

You'd think that it would be done by now, but no, we are still ticking away with the bathroom renovation. Contractors have been long gone, so that is good. Now it is just stuff we need to do and need to find the time to do them. We have a mirror, i just need to get it hung, #slacker

The cabinet was a huge headache, not the cabinet itself but the getting the cabinet actually delivered. Here are some photos of the process and then the final thing...

I still need to paint the bathroom door, which i will probably do in September when i have some time off.

We have to make a final decision about shelving above the toilet but that can't be done until we get the mirror hung. and i want to get a hook to hang a towel on next to the sink. I think i have the hook that i want in mind but i need to make sure it goes ok with the mirror and shelves and fits in the space well. so here is what we have left to do:

paint the door
hang mirror
decide and buy shelves
buy hook and hang

after all of that is done, we may finally be done with the smallest room in our house renovation

Little by Little

I guess one day it will be completed. It will probably all come together when i am off of work for a week in September, I guess i'm good with that, or at least have to be.
I did get the curtains hung so the neighbors couldn't see in, not that they were trying too.

My mom picked up the rug for me from World Market. Why don't we have any of the good stores in our city? anyway i love it in the space. for the mirror, the one i got is a no go and then one i found and like is on back order until August or September. so we wait.

This is my attempt of the dimensions to see how it would be on the wall. the actual mirror will clearly look way better. my arch drawing is lacking and clearly i can't cut a straight line.

to the left of the door, there will be a tall skinny cabinet that has a mirror on the front that will hold all the bathroom things. it was supposed to arrive yesterday but will get here tomorrow. i mean that is just how this bathroom has been going right.
A friend said that Rome wasn't built in a day. I told her #truth but Rome is way bigger than this bathroom.

One Day left

We are just a day away from this project being completed.
this is the latest from where we last left off.

the shower ceiling got painted

while my hubs and i were enjoying the amazing weather last week i saw our baseboards

the walls got painted

the color is Stonington Gray by Benjamin Moore if anyone wants to know

i knew baseboards were going in soon so i wanted to get a picture of the space before they went in

and one last picture of our janky door before the new one went in

new door and door knob ready and waiting to be installed

the new door had 1x4 framing and the existing door was a 1x2. i had to pull the baseboards away from the wall and had the guy trim the existing baseboards to fit against the new door. we are hoping to get new baseboards in the bedroom, eventually but it was not on the to do list just yet.

it is just so cute. now it needs to be painted.

love the way it looks in the space.

baseboards look so good too.
smallest bathroom ever.

the view from our bedroom of the door. i believe the did one coat on the frame. it needs another coat and i need to paint the door.

our pedestal sink will be there, hopefully tomorrow

and this will have the shower head and controller.
i think it will be fight on who gets the first shower in here. Little Girl said we should all put on our swim suits and get in there.

Bathroom Update

We prepared for them to come and finish the tile work and then grout.
guess what? no one showed up.

Then they came and finished the tile

and did the grout

But misplaced the bag of grout for the floor
apparently it made it's way back to the warehouse because it was labeled wrong

I couldn't make this stuff up if i tried
but isn't it beautiful? it took them like 15 minuets

The white cabinet came off the wall and we thought that when we came back from our vacation that it would be all painted.
we were wrong.
we came home to it looking the same.
we thought they were coming on Monday.....no painters showed up

They came on Tuesday and got that silicone off the wall and did some puttying
Random face

When they showed up to paint the putty wasn't dry. they said we should have put a fan on it. well......no one told us that we should have and we had a fan sitting right in the room, so.....not sure why they just didn't do that.

so now the question of the day: is the putty dry? or maybe it should be will the painters show up to sand and finish the bathroom?
we shall see.

Things I've Learned this Spring

Things i've learned this spring with Emily P Freeman

1. It's quite possible that my husband know more about Disney World that i ever will. We recently started watching Victoria and before we got to the episod where she marries Albert, we obviously  know she does, #history
he hops over to Disney's site and pulls up the restaurant Victoria and Albert's and claims it's the most expensive restaurant in Disney. I didn't even know it was a restaurant in Disney at all.

2. Speaking of Victoria:  This series........i wasn't thrilled to watch it, to start with but it has given me all the feels. Can we just veg and watch them all?
These two

and then these two.

3. I can handle crazy times and decisions when half of my heart is out of the country and things get nuts.

4. Making house remodel decisions was not something i wanted to be doing this season of life. especially because almost, exactly 2 years ago, we completed a kitchen remodel. but when water damages things, it has to happen, whether we like it or not.

5. Maybe I'm not okay with the fact that my son is going to middle school next year. How did we go from this, my first glimpse of him

to this?

6. I miss dance so very much. My daughter had her first dance recital and while she was only in one dance, the whole production was amazing. I just loved dance.

7. having most of our family together is so much fun. We went ahead and did a combined birthday party for the kids over Memorial Day weekend. I asked my parents to bring up crawfish and a king cake and we had a New Orleans themed party. It was a great time. We did a crawfish boil for Little Girls very first birthday and so this was fitting. It was a weekend of celebrating.
