TTT (on Wednesday)

okay so i missed last week even though in intended to post something and i have to say that i think i purposefully missed the week before because of a lack of something to post. so to insure that i get my post in here it is.

1. i'm posting the day before because tomorrow after work my hubby and i are going to stay the night with some good friends of ours and see their dear girls.

2. on friday we are meeting the rest of the fam and going to the beach for the weekend and i am super excited about that.

3. this is the 3rd weekend this month that i have been away on a trip/vacation/basically not at home. it will be nice when life slows down, although i've loved every minute of it.

Fun

during the day on july 4th we went with some friends to a small parade and this is one of the cool things that we saw. i just thought that this looked like lots of fun. i wonder how long they had to practice this?

4th of July

here are some pictures of the fireworks that we saw on the fourth of july. i know it's kind of late posting but like i wrote yesterday it's been hard for me to get the pics on my blog for some reason. so here they are. it was really fun to take them with me camera. i hope you enjoy.

finally

i've finally gotten through to post some pictures. while i am way behind on my picture postings (like since june) at least i can now and here are some recent pics from my trip to new orleans.

In Memory

trailers, emptiness, tragedy, need...
almost a year after katrina and the affects of the hurricane are still visible and evident. there are many homes that were damaged but you wouldn't know it from all the hard work the owners have put into it but there are still many homes that are still terribly damaged and many neighborhoods completely vacated. as you drive into the city it just looks sad and lonely. here are some pictures from our recent visit to new orleans.

Unmerited Grace

fairies, castles, dukes, gentleman, my bonny lass, fiddles, enchanting music...these are just some of the things that have once again taken me back to Scotland. a place of mystery, silence, innocence, betrayal, mercy, romance, revenge, pain and grace in Grace in Thine Eyes by: Liz Curtis Higgs. this is the story of Jacob (jamie) and Leah's (leanna) daughter Dinah (davina). Higgs has once again amazed and impressed me in this wonderful story of forgiveness and grace. i began my Scottish journey a couple of months ago in Thorn in my Heart. here is what i wrote months ago about the first three books in the series.

Ooh La La!

"...the gift of a true friend is that she sees you not the way you see yourself or the way others see you. A true friend sees who you are inside and who you can become."

this is one of the many beautiful quotes found in the book that i just finshed by
  • Robin Jones Gunn
  • one of my favorite authors. the book is
  • Sisterchicks say Ooh La La!
  • i really enjoyed it because it takes place in Paris where i would love to go one day, but it is also about two women who were friends at a very young age. stories like that always bring a smile to my face and remind me of my best friend who i too met a very young age and have held on to her for years. through the rough years of jr high, our amazing and not so amazing times at summer camp, our high school years (heartbreaks, joys, accomplishments), when i left for college and she still had a another year of high school, as college roommates for 3 years (heartbreaks again, joys and accomplishments) many more things that would take me forever to write about and i am sure many, many more corses in our life that we will take the twists and turns together. i love you "t".
