Coming Attractions

I've been reading books by Robin Jones Gunn practically all of my life. My mom bought me the first Christy Miller book Summer Promise when I was 12 and once I finished that one I was begging her for the next one. I would sometimes walk to the dinner table with the book in my hand thinking that I could just read through dinner. My mom had other plans, making me put the book down to have dinner with the family. (good call mom) But that tells you how much I loved those books. I flew through the Christy Miller books to then follow up with the Sierra Jensen books and if my memory serves me correct I read the college years ones next. But somewhere in there I managed to read the Glenbrook Series and love them as well. With the Glenbrook Series I would eagerly await the printing of the next book and then run to the book store when it was released. So needless to say I was thrilled when I found out that all of my old friends (in the form of these characters) would return in the Katie Weldon Series. I have loved reuniting with all of these beloved characters and reading about how God is working in and through Katie's life.

I had the pleasure of meeting Robin Jones Gunn about 3 years ago. My husband and I move to the pacific northwest and I met her where I worked. It was a surprise from my co-workers and I was definitely surprised. It was a pleasure.

Here is a little about Mrs. Gunn:
Robin Jones Gunn is the much-loved author of Peculiar Treasures, On a Whim, and the Christy Miller, Sierra Jensen, College Years, Glenbrooke, and Sisterchicks® series, with over 4 million books sold worldwide. Robin loves to travel and often speaks locally and internationally. She and her husband live near Portland, Oregon, where the view outside her window is green all year round.

So on to my thoughts about her latest book Coming Attractions.
Of course I loved it and hope that there are more in the series. I have to say that I saw what was coming in the book but wasn't sure how it would all play out and happen. I was pleased with how it all worked out though. I thought it was funny and inspiring. There were many quotes and scriptures that I jotted down. One of them being a quote from a poem by Emily Dickenson "Hope is the thing with feathers that perched in the soul, and sings the tune without the works and never stops at all." and the Bible verse that I wrote down is Psalm 143-8and10 :Point out the road I must travel; I'm all ears, all eyes before you. Teach me how to live to please you because you're my God."

Katie Weldon has loved Rick Doyle practically all of her life and has wanted him to love her in return. When things start to look that way Katie feels the need to run and bail. With the many questions and thoughts going through her mind with her relationship with Rick and being at the end of her college career will she continue to be lead by God and what his plans are for her.
