patience...that is the name of the game when it comes to my first born, my oldest, my patience we must have with him.

see my little guy came into the world two months early.

he weighed 2lbs and 14oz

the picture above was the first time that i got to hold him...eight days after he was born...

...patience (he weighed 2lbs 9.2oz)

weight gain was difficult because he was such a fighter....very active and always moving...

he started having apnea spells after a bottle attempt that was probably to soon...

after 48 days in the NICU we were able to take him home (but on an apnea/heart monitor)...

at three months old he had to have surgery for an inguinal hernia...

over a year old and he still wasn't walking...

at three years and three months his speech still seemed like it wasn't improving with speech therapy and we found out he needed hearing aids....

he is now almost four and is speaking full sentences. there is still lots more to work on when it comes to understanding his speech but he is doing so wonderfully.

so as you can see...we've needed patience through it all.

  1. What a great post! I heard a pastor say today ... sometimes we have to stop scrutinizing the snapshot in front of us and step back and watch the movie. Reflection is good for all parts of us.

  2. I love it. What a wonderful definition of patience. Blessings to you and your family!

  3. what an awesome post - and what a fantastic picture!
just found you through The Joy Cottage.
    thankyou for sharing.
wonderful that he's making such progress, albiet slowly - and best of luck for more patience as it's needed!

This was so much fun to experience with him...he just loved his "golden" (well orange) tickets...I think he was the youngest kid doing this that day...and don't forget how much fun the worker had bouncing him...I think he actually forgot that he was supposed to help with the other three stations that were going on. Patience does bring about blessings...he surely is one...I smile and am full in heart just thinking about him. Love, Honey
