Sawyer Update

things are pretty good with baby. his post-op apt with the surgeon went well. things are looking good. only today i called his doctor this morning because he had some white bumps in his mouth and we thought is may be thrush. the doc didn't think that it was when he looked at it but the went to test it and come to find out it is. this kid just can't win. i have to be grateful though because at least he isn't sick. they weighted him with this clean diaper and oneis on and he was 8lbs 8oz. he is now grown out of his preemie clothes and in into new born clothes. it's so funny to me because he's 3 months old. i can't believe it either.

  1. Woo-hoo for weight gain. Sorry to hear about the thrush. C had it too. It sucked. Have you mentioned lately to God that you are DONE? I'll try to put in a word for you. :)

Can I just say what a good job you are doing as a new mom? I'm so proud of you for taking such good care of Sawyer. Pretty soon the doctor is just going to take your word for it, you've been right so often. Good for you.

  5. The good thing about thrush is that most kids don't seem bothered by it...especially if it's just a small amount and not tons all over the mouth. When Micaiah had it (pretty mild) when he was 10 weeks old we didn't use the meds and it cleared up on it's own (as many cases do). I was actually way more bothered by it when I nursed than he was. All that to say, you might want to do some research on it before giving him meds for it. Antifungals can be pretty strong stuff and Doctor's will prescribe stuff even if not completely necessary. Anyway, that's just my 2-cents! :-)

  7. amberj-basically the kid can't give me any grief when he gets older.

~t-i miss you tons. keep your eyes out for mail.

mia-i'll have to get some pics posted. look for some in the next week or so.

wendy-thanks so much for all your words of encouragement and prayers. i really appreciate you and miss you.

renee-we did put him on the meds and he's doing fine of them but he just spits it out a lot. our doc is really good though about not always putting people on meds if he doesn't think that they need them. a more natural approach most of the time.

cheryl-it's good to hear from you. thank about his name. we love it too.

  8. 3 months, for real? I have to echo the "you're doing a great job" comment. You've had to deal with more in the last 3 months than most of us have had to in 3 years. Keep following that mothering instinct ... you're doing awesome.
